Estimada Doctora Barnett,

Con motivo de la celebración de su elección como Octava Secretaria General de la Comunidad del Caribe (CARICOM), la Primera Beliceña y Primera Mujer en ocupar tan importante cargo; permítanos transmitir nuestras más calurosas Felicitaciones a Usted, al Hermano Pueblo de Belice y a todos los Pueblos del Caribe.

Su nombramiento representa un paso importante hacia una mayor igualdad y representación de Mujeres en puestos de toma de decisiones y sin duda alguna servirá de faro para inspirar a las niñas y jóvenes de todo el Caribe.

Reconocemos que está asumiendo este importante puesto de liderazgo en un momento muy difícil para el Caribe y el Mundo, sin embargo, estamos seguros de que podrá estar a la altura de este desafío, promoviendo una mayor integración, comprensión y cooperación en toda la Región.

Tenga la plena seguridad de que el Gobierno de Nicaragua sigue comprometido con el fortalecimiento de los lazos existentes de Fraternidad y Solidaridad en el Caribe y, por lo tanto, continuará trabajando siempre, de la mano, con CARICOM.

On the occasion of celebrating your election as the 8th Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the First Belizean and the First Woman to hold this important position; allow us to transmit our warmest Congratulations to You, the Brotherly People of Belize and to all the Peoples of the Caribbean.

Your appointment represents an important step toward greater equality and representation of women in decision making positions and undoubtably will serve as a beacon to inspire young girls throughout the Caribbean.

We recognize that you are assuming this relevant position of leadership at a very difficult time for the Caribbean and the World, however, we are certain that you will be able to rise to this challenge by promoting even greater integration, understanding and cooperation throughout the Region.
