La lucha antiimperialista en las Américas

Las Américas son en gran medida la primera línea en la lucha contra el impulso del imperialismo de EE. UU. por el dominio planetario unipolar. Los Estados Unidos probaron allí por primera vez su Doctrina Monroe: la descarada suposición que todo el continente es el "patio trasero" de Estados Unidos, y desde entonces ha tratado de exportar este sentido de propiedad colonial a todo el mundo.
En el prólogo de sus Versos Sencillos, el gran revolucionario cubano y el escritor José Martí imaginó proféticamente al águila imperial agarrando las banderas de todas las naciones del mundo en sus garras manchadas de sangre. Pero, con la misma seguridad, Martí también sentó las bases para la tradición anti-imperialista y unidad de propósito revolucionario que negará ese dominio de pesadilla sobre la realidad resistiendo los esfuerzos de los Estados Unidos para destruir y simultáneamente crear el mundo en su propia imagen.
La votación del 23 de junio en Naciones Unidas contra la ilegalidad del bloqueo a Cuba ha demostrado una vez más que el concepto de el excepcionalismo yankee conserva el mérito únicamente como descriptor de la hipocresía estadounidense. 184 estados votaron para poner fin al bloqueo criminal, los sesenta años de campaña de guerra económica, que no califica como "Sanciones", precisamente porque no hay leyes internacionales otorgando sanción legal a estas medidas coercitivas unilaterales que castigan colectivamente al pueblo cubano por tener la fortaleza de derrocar al imperialismo y afirmar su soberanía.
El bloqueo viola la Carta de la ONU, suscrita por todos los estados miembros; y así, si Estados Unidos fuera realmente el proveedor de un "sistema basado en reglas" se auto expulsaría de las Naciones Unidas y se sometería al derecho internacional por todos sus crímenes.
Solo hay dos opciones posibles a la hora de explicar cómo y por qué el impulso de Estados Unidos de dominar el mundo entero está condenado al fracaso.
En primer lugar, si se le permitiera a Estados Unidos, su capitalismo sociopático destruiría sin pensarlo toda la vida humana (y muchas otras especies también). Entonces no quedaría mundo para subyugar, y nadie quedaría para ser explotado, sólo las fluctuaciones de los algoritmos en los fondos de inversión y las computadoras del mercado de valores programadas para perseguir implacablemente la lógica de la ganancia hasta su conclusión ilógica por sus difuntos amos capitalistas.
En segundo lugar, y mucho más afirmativamente, el impulso del imperialismo capitalista monomaniaco por la supervivencia abstracta de su razón instrumental en un mundo muerto habrá sido detenida en seco por la movilización revolucionaria de las masas y el derrocamiento de este asesino sistema de explotación.
Los niveles necesarios de organización y conciencia revolucionaria (crucialmente antimperilista) en las Américas ya están bien arraigados y líderando el mundo, y estos movimientos encabezarán la lucha internacionalista contra el capitalismo. Todos los antiimperialistas del mundo pueden aprender e inspirarse de los camaradas de las Américas, además de asumir su generosa hospitalidad uniéndose a ellos en la lucha. Esta solidaridad se requiere con urgencia, tanto para defender el terreno revolucionario ya ocupado en la región y para rechazar la violencia y la represión estatales donde los regímenes títeres estadounidenses están en el poder.
El modelo neoliberal que Estados Unidos ha tratado de imponer en las Américas y el mundo ahora están apuntalados por la violencia absoluta y la coerción. El mito (y por supuesto siempre fue un mito) del "Fin de la historia" y un capitalismo benigno y progresista, cuya lógica de mercado aseguraría la democracia y la prosperidad para todos sus aliados”, ha sido completamente vaciado.
Cualquiera que sea la fuerza que tuvo la narrativa fantástica del progreso neoliberal en algunos sectores (incluidas las versiones centrista y liberal del izquierdismo), este mito ha agotado todo su crédito ideológico. Como el terror repugnante contra sindicalistas y miembros de movimientos sociales infligidos por el estado títere de la OTAN de Estados Unidos en Colombia ilustra a diario, como se muestra por la respuesta totalmente militarizada a las protestas populares con relativamente modestos objetivos igualitarios en Chile o Ecuador, o como se manifiesta en las maniobras imperialistas y oligárquicas actuales para derrocar la elección democrática de Pedro Castillo como presidente en Perú, el neoliberalismo es la antítesis de la libertad, no su garante.
Del mismo modo, donde los antiimperialistas han ganado el poder, en Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia: es imperativo que ayudemos a defender estos éxitos revolucionarios y aprender de ellos. Bolivia es notable por la forma en que la gente luchó contra un golpe de Estados Unidos que llevaron al poder a viles fascistas, ayudados, por supuesto, por "liberales" imperialistas, progresistas y los llamados eco-guerreros, que repitieron literalmente las mentiras de la CIA y se convencieron de que eran salvadores, cuando en realidad ofrecían una cobertura ideológica al deseo imperial de monopolizar las reservas de litio.
Se requiere vigilancia y solidaridad continuas con respecto a Bolivia y ciertamente necesario con respecto a Venezuela y Nicaragua, donde, en este último caso, ya se está organizando un golpe de estado y buscará deslegitimar la próxima reelección del abrumadoramente popular, Presidente Daniel Ortega.
La extralimitación imperialista de un estado canalla que piensa que todo el planeta es su "patio trasero" encontrará en cambio que el mundo es en última instancia el cementerio de sus planes. La solidaridad internacionalista ofrece horizonte completo a través del cual realizar la necesaria lucha contra la hegemonía estadounidense a escala planetaria.
Debemos unirnos a nuestros camaradas en las Américas y en todo el mundo, jugando nuestro papel en el desmantelamiento de los circuitos del sistema imperialista que hace posible la continua violencia del neoliberalismo. Nuestros camaradas han mantenido heroicamente la línea del frente, y podemos mutuamente reponer nuestras fuerzas intensificando nuestra lucha conjunta para crear ese mundo mejor que nos espera cuando finalmente neguemos las injusticias e inequidades del capitalismo y el imperialismo.

struggle in the Americas

The Americas are very much the front line in the struggle against US imperialism’s drive for unipolar, planetary dominance. The United States first tested its Monroe Doctrine there—the brazen assumption that the entire continent is America’s “back yard”—and has since sought to export this sense of colonial proprietorship throughout the world.
In the prologue to his Versos Sencillos, the great Cuban revolutionary and writer José Martí prophetically imagined the imperial eagle clutching the flags of all the nations of the world in its blood-stained talons. But, just as surely, Martí also laid the basis for the anti-imperialist tradition and unity of revolutionary purpose that will deny that nightmare dominion over reality by resisting the efforts of the United States to destroy and simultaneously create the world in its own self-image.
The vote on 23 June at the United Nations against the illegal blockade of Cuba has once again shown that the concept of Yankee exceptionalism retains merit solely as a descriptor of US hypocrisy. 184 states voted to end the criminal blockade, the sixty-year campaign of economic warfare, which does not qualify as “sanctions,” precisely because there are no international laws providing legal sanction to these unilateral coercive measures that collectively punish the Cuban people for having the fortitude to overthrow imperialism and assert their sovereignty.
The blockade violates the UN Charter, to which all member-states must sign up; and so, if the United States were truly the purveyor of a “rules-based system” it would eject itself from the United Nations and submit itself to international law for all its crimes.
There are only two possible options when it comes to explaining how and why the US urge to dominate the entire world is doomed to fail. Firstly, if the United States is allowed to, its sociopathic capitalism will brainlessly destroy all human life (and many other species besides). So there will be no world left to subjugate, and no-one left to exploit, only the forlorn fluctuations of algorithms on hedge fund and stock market computers programmed to pursue relentlessly the logic of profit to its illogical conclusion by their deceased capitalist masters.
Secondly, and much more affirmatively, capitalist imperialism’s monomaniacal push for the abstract survival of its instrumental reason in a dead world will have been stopped in its tracks by revolutionary mass mobilisation and the overthrow of this murderous system of exploitation.
The requisite levels of organisation and revolutionary consciousness (most crucially anti-imperialism) in the Americas are already well grounded and world-leading, and these movements will spearhead the internationalist fight against capitalism. All anti-imperialists around the world can take lessons and inspiration from comrades in the Americas, as well as taking up their generous hospitality by joining them in struggle. Such solidarity is urgently required, both in defending revolutionary ground already held in the region and in pushing back against state violence and repression where US puppet regimes are in power.
The neoliberal model that the United States has sought to foist upon the Americas and the world is now propped up by outright violence and coercion. The myth (and it was of course always a myth) of the “end of history” and a benign, progressive capitalism, whose market-driven logic would secure democracy and prosperity for all its “stake-holders,” has been utterly hollowed out.
Whatever traction the fantasy narrative of neoliberal progress had in some quarters (including the centrist and liberal versions of leftism), this myth has used up all its ideological credit. As the sickening terror against trade unionists and members of social movements inflicted by the US-NATO puppet state in Colombia illustrates daily, as shown by the fully militarised response to popular protests with relatively modest egalitarian aims in Chile or Ecuador, or as manifested by the current imperialist and oligarchic manoeuvres to overthrow the democratic election of Pedro Castillo as president in Peru, neoliberalism is the antithesis of freedom, not its guarantor.
Equally, where anti-imperialists have gained power—in Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia—it is imperative that we help defend these revolutionary successes, and learn from them. Bolivia is notable for how the people fought back against a US coup that brought vile fascists to power, helped, of course, by “liberal” imperialists, progressives and so-called eco-warriors, who all parroted verbatim CIA lies and convinced themselves they were saviours, when in fact they offered ideological cover for an empire’s self-entitled desire to monopolise lithium reserves.
Continued vigilance and solidarity are required regarding Bolivia and most certainly needed in regard to Venezuela and Nicaragua, where, in the case of the latter, a full-blown coup is already under way and will seek to delegitimise the forthcoming re-election of the overwhelmingly popular Sandinista president, Daniel Ortega.
The imperialist overreach of a rogue state that thinks the whole planet is its “back yard” will find instead that the world is ultimately the graveyard of its plans. Internationalist solidarity offers the total horizon through which to realise the necessarily planetary scale of the struggle against US hegemony.
We must join our comrades in the Americas and around the world in playing our part in dismantling the circuitry of the imperialist system that makes the continuing violence of neoliberalism possible. Our comrades have heroically held the front line, and we can mutually replenish our strengths by intensifying our joint struggle to create that better world that awaits us when we finally negate the injustices and iniquities of capitalism and imperialism.
