Beloved Members of the High Command, Authorities present, organizers of this great event. It is an honor for me to take the floor this morning, at the National Coffee Event.

General Avilés, on behalf of our coffee producing farms and all of us who work the land, I want to express our deepest gratitude for the invitation to this very important space that improves the productive motor of our beloved Nicaragua.

We are meeting today with deep gratitude, recognizing the firm support provided to the Coffee Sector of our beautiful Nicaragua, which has allowed us to develop financing policies, technical assistance and improvement of productive roads and seaports for the transportation of our exports.

Every year coffee farmers manage to improve the quality of our coffee grains, achieving better international prices, which allows us to have an economy which is improving the quality of life in our communities.

The institutional support of the Nicaraguan Army has been the machinery that drives small and medium producers to continue harvesting Nicaragua's green gold with pride. We reiterate our commitment to continue working in unity to raise productivity and enhance the name of our country in international markets. We are confident that this strategic alliance will continue to bear fruit for the well-being of all of us Nicaraguans.

We can affirm that thanks to the protection guaranteed to us by our Brothers and Sisters in the Army, today we can carry out our productive activities without fear, and transport our harvest. Crime has ceased to be a danger to our communities, thus ensuring production in rural areas.

Our production has the condition of a growth, not only so as to produce the three million sacks of coffee; but we also have the great opportunity to focus efforts on improving our performance, making it possible to reach five million bags of coffee. Now is moment, the time to invest in technology, increasing employment and increasing the knowledge of coffee farming of new generations.

Our deepest gratitude to every soldier present and to the Commanders of the Nicaraguan Army, who, rain or shine, patrol our mountain ranges to ensure that the productive cycle never stops. There is no production without Peace, and there is no Peace without the protection of our Institutions and the Nicaraguan Army. Long live Peace! Long Live our Work And May Our Coffee Growing Areas Continue To Prosper!

Along this path which we have walked for many years producing and exporting coffee, the advances achieved have been thanks to the unity of the Coffee Sector, since working together we have successfully achieved this security in the countryside, and this economic growth in our country which we see in the education of thousands of children in schools, technological centers, universities, medical centers, hospitals and social security, all possible thanks to the work, developed day by day by all our Brothers and Sister of the Army, guaranteeing us Security, Stability and Peace.

I want to make just recognition of the fact that, since last year, financial sanctions towards producers have decreased, this has been possible thanks to the rebound in coffee prices and the policies of our Government which have allowed our financial system to offer greater opportunities for producers and exporters.

We joining with you as a financial representative, so that together we can develop production via investment through more extensive and accessible credit lines enabling small and medium producers to invest in inputs and technology which will help us lower production costs.

We also make recommendations to increase the exports of our coffee in international markets via the participation of producers and exporters in international coffee events, which allow us to gradually promote it at the best prices in the world market.

General Avilés, we want to make a very special and sincere acknowledgment to the Nicaraguan Army, which is under your command, for the security provided to our lands, thanks to your constant presence, patrolling and firm commitment to Peace in rural areas, today we can raise the harvest of coffee and other products so proudly cultivates in this very important Department of the country. Your work not only protects our coffee plantations; it protects the livelihood of thousands of families and ensures that the fruit of our effort brings good every corner of the country.

We reiterate our gratitude for taking us into account for this event, and we reaffirm our commitment to continue working hand in hand with you, cultivating with care and contributing to the economic and social development of our Nation.

Nicaraguan producers this year are facing Climate Change in what is known as the El Niño phenomenon, which affected a large number of the country's producers. Northern Producers did not have great losses in the productive system, due to the lack of rain, in such a way that the production of grain and coffee took place with good results, giving rise to greater opportunities, such that the labor of all those areas affected by the El Niño phenomenon can be mobilized to the coffee harvest seasons, November-December and to the harvesting of our crops of other products such as beans, rice and corn, which are indispensable products, so that they can all reach the homes of consumers in all the Departments of the Pacific Coast, where sufficient production for consumption was not obtained.

We have been observing that for this year, in the coffee growing areas below 1,100 meters above sea level downwards, a decrease in yield and production volume is projected for the coming years. This trend is associated with the effects of Climate Change and the advanced age of plantations.

Production costs have risen and on behalf of the producers and I want to propose to the National Coffee Transformation Commission and the National Coffee Council, as well as to our Ministry of Agriculture, that we concentrate our efforts on carrying out a rehabilitation of our coffee plantations with new plantations, with better coffee varieties, conserving the natural resources which predominate in these coffee growing areas.

Our mission continues to be to expand this Nicaraguan aroma to every corner of the planet. Today more than ever we reaffirm our commitment to continue raising productivity, technifying our Drying Plants, and conquering new international tastes, always enhancing the name and quality of Nicaragua’s coffee.

Let's continue positioning our coffee throughout the international market, in the search for a fairer and more sustainable markets, strengthening our coffee industry and positioning ourselves as one of the best coffees in the world.

Beloved members of the Producer Sector, Representatives of our National and International Companies, today we are meeting at a crucial moment for the Coffee Industry of our Country. Coffee is not only an export product, it is the economic engine for thousands of Families, as well as our identity before the world and the pride of our country.

Therefore, the main objective of this encounter is to firmly and transparently consolidate our absolute commitment to maintain the pace of coffee production, providing and expanding our presence in international markets, we are in a moment of opportunities, for exporters, traders and carriers, to strongly strengthen Matagalpa’s economy.

Honorable Board of Directors and representatives of the Central Bank, today we appear before you on behalf of the Coffee Sector and coffee exporting companies, expressing our hope for your support for the opportunity of sharing a program for the next 20 years, a comprehensive program for the transformation of coffee farming in our country. It is time to grow, the opportunities for everyone are already created and we have the conditions to make coffee farming a more stable and sustainable economic development for our country.

We affirm that the coffee sector is no longer a risk for the financial system, on the contrary, it is the future growth for the entire coffee chain which calls on us all to work together as banks, coffee producers and exporters.

I also want to ratify what we producers have been expressing for many years, that here and in all corners of our mountain areas we work our farms making our together, both the local authorities, our Army and the Police, and all this joint effort is expressed in the reality we now live in rural areas, which is the Peace that we are living today.

We support and acknowledge our Government headed by Co-President Comandante Daniel Ortega and Co-President Compañera Rosario Murillo for bringing this development to our People, and we join in continuing to fight so as to preserve this Peace, and to end the scourge of poverty.

With them we have shared our work and our coffee cup in the countryside, together with them and their leaders we have met in our homes, shared in our Communities, carrying this message of Peace and Happiness which has always been the dream of producers in rural areas.

I want to conclude on behalf of thousands of farmworkers, producers, transport operators and traders,  we will always need the Security of our Army, and we are sure that you will be with us. This is an Army of the producer families, for the producer families.
